Charles brings a unique mixture of music performance, business management and education experience to ACMS. Charles is a graduate of Bates College, where he studied organ with Marion Anderson and composition with Bill Matthews and received a BS. Charles studied composition with Charles Dodge at the City University of New York Conservatory at Brooklyn College where he earned an Master of Arts in Music. Charles has spent a good part of his professional life in the business world, managing service organizations. He has served as a management consultant with Monitor Company, and managed service organizations at C-bridge Internet Solutions and Hewlett Packard. While at C-bridge, Charles founded and managed a $4m a year (revenues) education division. Musically, Charles is an active composer and church musician. He has served as organist and choir director in the Episcopal and UCC churches. He currently serves as Director of Youth Choirs at South Church in Andover and Music Director for the South Church players in Andover. Charles has served as a Board Member for the Professional Center for Child Development in Andover and is currently the Vice President of the Service Club of Andover.
Kris is Provost and Academic Vice President at Salem State College. She brings deep experience in school management and governance as well as school funding strategies and contacts. Kris has more than 25 years of higher education experience, serving as an associate professor of sociology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and recently holding the positions of deputy provost and associate provost at UMass Lowell. Kris holds a PhD and an MA in sociology from Cornell University, and a BA from Boston University in philosophy and political science. She also attended the American Council on Education Institute for New Chief Academic Officers. Kris is also a parent of one of our violin students.
Dave brings significant experience in nonprofit financial management to ACMS. Dave has been an independent Management Consultant to non-profits on financial management. Dave currently works for the department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at Harvard, on the board of Planet Aid, USA, Treasurer of Havurat Shalom, and board Member of Massachusetts 9/11 Fund, Inc. Dave is an active trombone player, playing in many community musicals each year as well as a Jazz band called the Jazz Disciples.
David is a professor at the Berklee College of Music, teaching ear training and music education. He has been an active performer and teacher for over 40 years. Dave has a B.M. from Berklee College of Music and an M.Ed., Cambridge College. He is author of The Reading Drummer from Berklee Press. He has conducted numerous percussion clinics, including presenting at the Texas Music Educators Conference, Ludwig International Percussion Symposium, PAS, and throughout Europe and Japan. On the performance side Dave has performed with the Drifters and Freddy Cannon, has been a staff writer for Columbia Pictures, has numerous television, recording, and theater credits and is published by Kendor, Belwin Mills, C.L. Barnhouse, and Columbia Pictures Publications. Dave is also the drummer for “Sixties Invasion”, a 60’s cover band that is very well known in the Andover area.
